job_description.job_card.job_descriptionWork in a hospital-based Med / Surg Telemetry unit with a fast-paced environment Care for a diverse population including GI conditions, blood loss / anemia, infections, renal issues, and post-GI surgery patients Unit contains 10 Telemetry beds for cardiac monitoring Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1 : 6, occasionally up to 1 : 7 based on staffing needs 12-hour night shifts (4x12), with block scheduling available Required to work every other weekend Required to float to other Med / Surg units as needed Uses Pyxis and Epic systems, along with SBAR for communication Provide patient care to a robust med / surg population and monitor telemetry beds as needed Unit orientation is 36 hours Navy or white scrubs required Must complete pre-assignment modules (8-10 hours) and annual learning Candidates may be required to float within the hospital or to affiliated hospitals Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; 7 days of RTO or less may be approved if not on a holiday No RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment Candidates living within 50 miles are offered at a lower local rate Previous permanent or PRN staff of the specified health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler Fatigue policy limits to 5 consecutive working days or 60 hours per week Active NC or compact state RN license required at time of start Minimum of 2 years RN experience on Med / Surg units required At least 1 year of prior traveler RN experience required; first-time travelers not considered Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required Skill in IV starts required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Epic charting experience preferred Telemetry experience preferred High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
