Parks And Facilities Superintendent
This role directs the management, maintenance, and strategic improvement of the city's public parks, buildings, and golf course. The Superintendent will oversee three key divisions Park Maintenance, Building Systems, and Golf Course Maintenance ensuring our community assets are safe, beautiful, and operate efficiently. This position involves significant project management, budget oversight, and staff leadership to uphold the highest standards of public service.
Essential Job Functions :
- Direct and supervise the managers and staff of the Park Maintenance, Building Systems, and Golf Course Maintenance divisions.
- Develop and implement priorities and ensure efficient daily operations across all three areas.
- Create, manage, and track the annual budgets for each division, optimizing financial resources and planning for capital improvements.
- Oversee all aspects of park operations, ensuring that grounds, landscapes, and recreational and other governmental facilities are maintained to the highest standard.
- Plan and coordinate seasonal maintenance schedules, aquatic center preparation, and public space upkeep.
- Manage the maintenance, repair, and preventative care of all City-operated facilities and mechanical systems.
- Supervise the maintenance of complex systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and large-scale water filtration for aquatic centers.
- Maintain detailed records and manuals on all building equipment and systems.
- Direct the agronomic and maintenance programs for the city's golf course to ensure exceptional playing conditions.
- Oversee turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and the maintenance of course grounds and equipment.
- Lead special projects, including new construction, renovations, and major repairs across all parks, buildings, and the golf course.
- Manage the entire project lifecycle from cost estimation and bidding to quality control and final close-out.
- Serve as the primary liaison between department heads, contractors, and staff to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of supervisors and maintenance staff across multiple divisions.Skill in developing, administering, and tracking complex operational and capital improvement budgets.Expertise in overseeing construction and renovation projects, including cost estimation, bidding, contract administration, and quality control.Strong understanding of the principles and practices for maintaining HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and aquatic filtration systems.In-depth knowledge of horticulture, agronomy, and best practices for maintaining public parks, athletic fields and courts and golf course turf.Ability to prepare requests for proposals (RFPs), negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with contractors and suppliers.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating effectively with staff, city officials, contractors, and the public.Strong analytical skills to assess situations, prioritize work, and make sound, independent decisions in a fast-paced environment.Education, Qualifications, and Experience Required :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Park Management or a related field required; andMinimum five (5) years' increasingly responsible management experience required; and,Minimum of three (3) year experience in a leadership position required; and,Certified Playground Safety Inspector preferred; ability to obtain within six (6) months of date of hire; andFirst Aid, CPR, and AED certification required within three months of hire and;The ability to perform moderate physical labor as necessary and able to lift up to fifty pounds.Applicant Certification :
