Description :

The Medical-Surgical unit consists of 36 beds and a staff of 60-65.

The day shift includes 1 Charge Nurse, 7 RNs, 3 PCTs, and 1-3 sitters.

The night shift includes 1 Charge Nurse, 7 RNs, 3 PCTs, and 1-3 sitters.

The patient ratios are typically 6 : 1 for low acuity, with a rare surge to 7 : 1.

Staff members perform full assessments, Q8 focused assessments, and administer IV antibiotics.

Bladder scans, discharge education, and admission assessments are also conducted.

The ideal candidate will have an upbeat and energetic personality.

The dress code requires scrubs in teal or white, with no offensive tattoos or t-shirts.

The unit fosters a fun and energetic atmosphere, with lower patient acuity.

Mornings can be busy, but afternoons tend to be very manageable.

The team often achieves a patient ratio of 5 : 1.

Staff members consistently help each other and maintain a positive environment.

A group messaging site allows for quick real-time updates among coworkers and management.

Leadership includes a director and 4 clinical coordinators who actively support the unit.

The unit comprises a good mix of experience, with some staff having over 15-20 years of nursing experience.

New graduates are welcomed and supported in their career development.

Self-scheduling is allowed, with 4 guaranteed requests for time off during each 4-week scheduling period.
