Our client, an established manufacturing organization based in Brentwood, is looking for a seasoned Human Resources Manger to become part of their Senior Leadership Team and support their workforce through an exciting growth phase. This role extends far beyond administrative tasks—it's a strategic leadership opportunity. They require an HR leader who can effectively manage operational responsibilities while providing the strategic vision necessary to transform HR into a department that drives engagement, supports expansion, and ensures sustainable success.

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive experience, strong professional acumen, and strategic thinking from a corporate environment, coupled with genuine commitment to understanding and maintaining a robust organizational culture while preparing it for continued growth.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Management : Lead and develop 2-3 HR department members through direct supervision, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities
  • Employee Relations : Serve as a reliable advisor for staff and management, facilitating equitable resolution of workplace issues
  • Performance Management & Compliance : Create and execute performance evaluation systems while ensuring adherence to California employment laws, safety standards, and organizational policies
  • Talent Development : Establish and oversee training programs, career advancement pathways, and leadership development initiatives
  • Compensation & Benefits : Manage benefits programs and contribute to maintaining fair, competitive compensation and recognition systems
  • Leadership Succession : Collaborate with executive team to navigate the organization's inaugural generational leadership change with stability and assurance
  • Recruitment & Onboarding : Manage comprehensive hiring and orientation processes to secure exceptional talent while upholding the company's culture of dedication and collaboration
  • Strategic HR Leadership : Develop and execute a progressive HR strategy that supports organizational objectives during this leadership evolution period
  • Organizational Design : Advise and support structural modifications as required to achieve strategic expansion goals
  • Employee Engagement & Retention : Lead programs that cultivate a positive, professional, and high-achievement work environment

Requirements

  • Experience managing multiple priorities with professionalism, discretion, and strong attention to detail
  • Proven success leading organizational change and building HR systems from the ground up
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law, compliance requirements, and HR best practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Broad HR generalist expertise across recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and benefits administration
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute HR strategy while effectively managing daily HR operations
  • Experience managing and developing direct reports
  • 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles in a mid-size or larger corporate environment
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust across all organizational levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting companies through leadership transitions or significant organizational change
  • Previous HR experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Spanish language skills (conversational or better)
  • Advanced HR certification (PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP)
  • Experience with compliance audits, labor postings, and 401(k) administration
  • Familiarity with the unique dynamics of family-owned or founder-led companies
  • Benefits

    Base Salary : $150,000 – $180,000 (determined by experience and qualifications)

    Performance Bonus : Annual profit-sharing bonus opportunity
