CSIF Communications Internship - Summer 2026
JOB SUMMARY : The communications intern helps develop strategies focused on supporting farmers as they raise livestock responsibly and successfully. From the office to the field, the communications intern acquires hands-on experience in agriculture, journalism, public relations, marketing, social media, event management, and much more. This paid internship is full-time from May-August, with potential for the selected applicant to work part-time in the spring / fall.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ( other duties may be assigned) :
- Develop communications content for the CSIF website, Good Farm Neighbor Award, Green Farmstead Partner program, Building Your Livestock Legacy, and social media platforms, etc.
- Help coordinate livestock open houses and Good Farm Neighbor Award events, field days and other events.
- Manage / promote the content and branding of Iowa Ag Intel resources and messaging.
- Work closely with Iowa's nine commodity groups and farm organizations.
- Implement CSIF's values by instilling in farmers the best management practices for animal husbandry, environmental stewardship and community involvement.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE (preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria) :
Current undergraduate college student pursuing a degree in an agricultural field such as animal science, ag business / economics, ag communications / marketing / journalism, ag education, etc.Background and / or interest in agriculture.Significant writing, photography, and social media experience. Videography a plus.Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and / or Canva, as well as Microsoft Office programs, among others.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Willingness to learn.Experience working with marketing activities and events.Ability to develop a positive and effective relationship with farmers, press, industry representatives.Ability to work independently, and in a team environment. Excellent written and oral communications skills.HOW TO APPLY :
