Position Summary
The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs used to manufacture precision parts on mills, lathes, and other computer-controlled equipment. This role ensures accurate translation of engineering drawings and solid models into efficient machining instructions, balancing quality, cycle time, and tool life. The CNC Programmer works closely with operators, engineers, and quality teams to maintain production efficiency and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and solid models, and technical documentation to determine machining processes and specifications.
- Create CNC programs using HSMWorks, Mastercam, and / or Fusion software.
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds for various materials (aluminum, steel, etc.).
- Collaborate with machine operator to set up and test new or revised programs on CNC machines to validate performance, quality, and cycle time.
- Troubleshoot program and process issues, collaborating with machine operator to resolve setup or cutting problems.
- Continuously improve machining processes by optimizing toolpaths, reducing cycle time, and improving surface finish.
- Maintain organized files of programs, tooling sheets, setup instructions, and revision records.
- Work with Quality Assurance to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with engineering requirements.
- Assist operators with complex jobs or new product introductions.

Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.3-5 years of experience in CNC programming and machining operations.Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).Strong understanding of G-code / M-code and post-processing for multiple machine types.Experience with 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling and / or turning centers.Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T symbols.Knowledge of tooling selection, fixture design, and cutting parameters.Solid math and trigonometry skills for machining calculations.Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with production staff.
