The Lead Sommelier is responsible for maintaining the outlet wine list, controlling cost, maintaining wine storage areas, keeping accurate inventory, training outlet staff in proper wine service, communicating with guests in a clear and professional manner, and providing excellent guest service according to Wynn Las Vegas service standards.
Job Responsibilities :
- Ensures all Wynn Las Vegas core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
- Must have the ability to promote positive, fair, and ethical relations with all team member, with all Wynn contractors, and in all interactions within the Host and Surrounding Communities, as an ambassador of the Wynn brand.
- Makes recommendations for new concepts and re-fresh of existing concepts when appropriate.
- Works closely with the Administrative Wine Team on specific projects when appropriate.
- Determines strategic vendor partnerships in choosing wines for the outlet
- Works with safety as a priority, and follows department and company safety standards.
- Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Age, Gaming and Certifications :
21 years of age or aboveMust be able to obtain and maintain any licensing or active work cards required, including but not limited to an alcohol awareness card and food handler cardSommelier Certification is preferred but not requiredAlcohol Awareness requiredNevada Health Card requiredEducation and / or Experience :
Requires a minimum of 2 years of work experience as a Head Sommelier in a restaurant with an extensive wine program and previous work experience as a food serverRequires advanced service knowledge and expert of wines, including vintages, regions, and food pairingsRequires basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Point of Sales systemCandidate must have experience with planning and project management.Must possess outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as excellent attention to detailKnowledge of union as well as non-union working environments preferredLanguage Skills :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documentsAbility to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guestsFluency in English required, second language a plusAbility to write detailed instructions and correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situationsMathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability :

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. When on kitchen floor or some back of house areas, the noise level increases to loud.
