Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Opening in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Opportunity Details :

Coverage Needed : Holiday block December 1929, 2025

Schedule : 24-hour call coverage with daytime clinic and rounding

Clinic : Open MondayFriday, 8a4 : 30p

Primarily post-op visits handled by APPs, with surgeon oversight and final evaluation

Clinic typically 23 half-days per week

Hospital Rounding : Early morning (7a8a) alongside an APP

Call : 24-hour call; APP support always available (clinic, hospital, and overnight)

EMR : Epic

Clinical Scope :

Comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical procedures including :

Coronary artery bypass

Aortic surgery

Valvular surgery (repair and replacement)

Atrial fibrillation / left atrial appendage management

Endovascular aneurysm repair

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)

Pre- and post-operative management with a full multi-disciplinary team

Candidate Requirements :

MD / DO from an accredited institution

Completed general surgery residency and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship (or integrated program)

Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery

Active and unrestricted Virginia medical license (or eligibility)

Current, unrestricted DEA

AHA certifications required (BLS, ACLS, etc.)

Proficiency across a wide range of adult cardiothoracic procedures

Strong clinical and interpersonal skills with commitment to high-quality patient care
