Pipefitter Apprentice ($19.25-$26 / per hour)

JOB SUMMARY : Through classroom and on-the-job training (OJT), learns and applies fundamentals of Pipefitting trade.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be flexible with schedule.
- Reliable transportation- go to sites in DC, VA, and MD.
- 0-1 years of prior experience as a laborer, skilled laborer, helper, or in another related trade.
- Satisfactory background check and initial / random drug tests.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Works well with team, including other trades.
- Inquisitive : wants to learn; asks questions.
- Communicates effectively in English.
- Able to lift five to fifty pounds (5-50lbs), with or without assistance, frequently.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, and remain in static positions for duration of shift.
- Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight / confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, snow, etc).
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Attend apprentice classes in trade and maintains OJT logs.Work under immediate supervision of Master / Journey worker, Leadman, or Foreman to assemble / complete work.Learn how to read blue prints, and uses to install Pipefitting systems.Assemble work laid out by Journey / Master worker.Learn how to cut and thread up to 2" pipe; sweat and solder pipe; tack-weld steel pipe; cut steel pipe with torch.Learn fitting techniques.Learn about specifications.Learn the mechanics and principles of Pipefitting.Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.Perform arithmetic calculations (add / subtract / multiply / divide, including fractions and decimals)Any other duties requested by Supervisor.J-18808-Ljbffr
