Job description :
This position is for a Special Education Teacher.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- A valid Texas teaching certificate is required.
- Special Education Teaching certification is required.
- Texas ESL certification is required.
- Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
Professional Responsibilities and Duties :
Develop and implement IEPs and behavioral intervention plans in accordance with assessment and ARDCommittee recommendationsWork collaboratively with colleagues to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements and from recommendations made by the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) CommitteeWork closely with related service personnel, paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers to ensure that services and modifications for students with disabilities are implementedPrepare classroom, materials and lesson plans and implement research-based instructional practicesObserve, evaluate, remediate, and extend on students' academic performance, behavior, and social developmentIdentify, modify, and adapt curriculum and approved instructional resources to meet various learning styles and needs of studentsUtilize a variety of teaching methods to instruct students individually, in small groups, and as a whole classMonitor students in a variety of educational environments (e.g., classroom, cafeteria, playground, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, study trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environmentImplement and maintain effective classroom management to ensure continual progress of studentsUtilize data to monitor learning and design lessons tailored to student needsEstablish standards-based objectives for all lessons and utilize clear criteria for evaluating lessonsUtilize efficient record-keeping proceduresCommunicate with parents and guardians to discuss student progressMeet professional criteria and obligationsAdminister standardized achievement and ability tests as requiredInterpret student performance data and implement approved Response to Intervention Tiers 1, 2 and 3Enforce Charter School rules and policiesActively participate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and / or gathering information required to perform functions and to improve student achievementUse audiovisual aids, computers, and or other interactive technology to supplement and support lessonsKeep up to date with current educational issuesDemonstrate strong work ethic, accept responsibility, and the ability to be self-motivatedExemplify through manner, words, and dress the high standards and expected behavior of the schoolPerform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitProfessional Requirements :

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands : This position is very active and involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Compensation and Benefits :
The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $52,559. This role may be eligible for stipends based on certifications, assignments, subjects, or campus leadership from $500-$3,000 each.
