Position Title : Operations Manager

Location : Lakewood, CO

Clearance Requirements : None

Position Status : Full Time - Direct Hire

Pay Rate : $100,000 - $130,000 annually

Position Description

We are seeking a driven and dynamic Operations Manager to join our team in Lakewood, CO . This entry-level management role is an excellent opportunity for a professional who wants to make a measurable impact on organizational growth, employee development, and client satisfaction in the energy and communications utility industry .

In this role, you will oversee daily operations, support market growth, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services. You will lead a small team (typically under 20 employees), manage 1-2 profit centers, and play a key role in financial performance, client relationships, and staff development. This position is ideal for a high-energy leader with strong business management skills who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment .

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations for assigned profit centers, ensuring productivity, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to design and engineering staff, fostering professional growth.
  • Oversee financial performance including profit / loss accountability, invoicing, WIP calculations, and contract bill rates.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring responsiveness to client needs and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Support recruitment, retention, and performance management of employees within your area of responsibility.
  • Partner with senior leadership to market services, expand market share, and improve business processes.
  • Conduct accident and claim investigations, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor and maintain company equipment and resources to ensure proper use and efficiency.

Required Skills & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred : non-engineering backgrounds such as BA degrees). Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • 8-10 years of experience in the energy or communications utility industry .
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
  • Strong business management skills with proven success driving operational performance.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to motivate diverse teams and manage strong personalities.
  • Demonstrated success in developing client relationships and delivering results in a high-demand environment.
  • Proficiency with business technology applications.

  • Distribution Engineering experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong business management and financial acumen .
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment .
