Backend Developer (Remote)

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring a Backend Developer to manage a sustainment and enhancement project. This position will be full-time and fully remote within the United States.

Please note : The contract has not been awarded; this position remains unfunded and is contingent upon the award of the contract.

Responsibilities

Manages backend development for legacy modernization, sustainment, and enhancement for VA.gov. Assists with development planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.???

Work alongside a team of front end and back-end developers in a multi-project environment.

Maintain high standards of excellence within the team by establishing good practices and habits.?

Work to diagnose and correct data discrepancies to ensure accuracy.

Work to add new features and maintain integrity of existing features within assigned VA.gov tools.

Assist in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans.?

Assist BA team in preparing reports, manuals, operational procedures and other documentation on the status, operation, and maintenance of the project.?

Integrate with all necessary applications, working alongside those system development team.?

Proactively communicate and coordinate with various internal and external project stakeholders.?

Analyzes detailed system factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.??

Participates in code reviews and Sprint Reviews to represent reviewed work for adherence to contract deliverables and program specifications.?

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience ?

Bachelor's with 8+ years (or commensurate experience)

Experience with Tech StackDevelopment

Experience working with databases

Experience working with GitHub

Analytical and investigation skills.?

Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.?

Experience with Agile Methodology and Scrum Processes.?

Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.?

Demonstrated experience in a remote work environment.?

Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US.

Preferred Skills and Experience ?

Experience with VA and / or other Federal Agencies.

Understanding of the VA Veteran-Focused Integration Process (VIP) project management methodology.?

Knowledge and experience working in a Scrum / Agile environment

Experience with Jira and Confluence

Experience working within the VA.gov platform, alongside OCTO

Clearance Required

Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability / Public Trust

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department / team performance, and market factors.

USD $75,000.00 - USD $110,000.00 / Yr.
