Job Description

We are seeking two experienced DB2 Data Engineers to join our team in Houston. These roles are critical to the modernization and optimization of our IBM iSeries-based database applications. The ideal candidates will have deep expertise in SQL stored procedures, DB2 on IBM iSeries, and RPG code conversion, along with exposure to modern development tools and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain database applications on the IBM iSeries (AS / 400) platform.
  • Convert legacy RPG code to SQL stored procedures for improved performance and maintainability.
  • Perform SQL performance tuning, implement logging, and manage exception handling.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate applications via RESTful APIs and JSON.
  • Participate in modernization efforts, including transitioning from RPG to SQL-based architecture.
  • Utilize IBM development tools such as Aldon, RDI, and ACS.
  • Work with Git for source control and integration.
  • Contribute to development using VS Code IDE, and support microservices architecture.
  • Provide technical documentation and support for deployed solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Expert-level experience with SQL stored procedures on the DB2 IBM iSeries platform (this is a strict requirement).
  • Strong understanding of RPGIV, RPGLE, and RPGFree programs, including embedded SQL.
  • Proven experience in application modernization, specifically converting RPG to SQL stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with IBM development tools : Aldon, RDI, ACS.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and application integration.
  • Exposure to Python, microservices, and VS Code IDE.
  • Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the oil and gas services industry or similar enterprise environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, onsite team setting
