Through its decades-long partnerships with donors, the Foundation has enabled Valley View to provide specialty care usually only found in major metropolitan areas. Valley View is an independent, nonprofit health system in Western Colorado. Its 78-bed hospital is in Glenwood Springs, home to world-famous hot springs and abundant, year-round outdoor opportunities. Glenwood Springs is ideally located one hour from both Aspen and Vail. General Objectives
The Gifts Officer will be responsible for qualifying, cultivating and stewarding current and prospective donors to Valley View Foundation, with the objective of growing philanthropic support.
- Secures gifts up to $25,000 and grow the number of major gifts to Valley View Foundation.
- Identify prospects and solicit gifts by bequests, trusts, charitable gift annuities and other planned giving vehicles.
- Partners with donors and prospective donors to realize their philanthropic ambitions while advancing the objectives of the Valley View Foundation and strategic priorities of Valley View.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal and external constituencies to support a comprehensive fundraising program to align with Foundation strategy and in support of the overall goals of Valley View.Identify, research and qualify prospective individual donors and coordinate with board members, staff and volunteers to leverage new networks for donor opportunitiesCollaborate with Executive Director and Annual Giving Associate to create moves management plans for cultivation and stewardshipEnsure timely and meaningful stewardship of gifts, to include acknowledgement letters and donor impact reportsProactively and strategically manage a portfolio of at least 100, to include grateful patientsPlan and execute a variety of tactics, such as donor meetings, tours, communications, gift proposals and events, to advance major and planned giving.Work effectively with staff and Foundation volunteers to prioritize, organize and execute cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities and eventsEffectively manage data by maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor records on gift activity, cultivation and stewardship activities using the foundation donor databaseParticipate in campaign development, budget creation and managementUpholds professional fundraising standards and ethicsServes as a representative and ambassador of Valley View and the Valley View Foundation.Participates in continuing education and in-service training to maintain professional and personal growth.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree requiredCertified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) preferredExperience :
3-6 years of fundraising experience, healthcare experience preferred.Demonstrated experience soliciting and closing five-figure gifts from individuals.Ability to work with and develop long-term relationships with diverse constituencies and deliver results.Ability to develop and manage a portfolio of donors.Prior experience with Grateful Patient programs preferredSkills :
Superb networking and relationship-building skillsKnowledge and understanding of the role and importance of major gifts in a comprehensive fundraising programSelf-starter and results drivenAnalytic and strategic thinking skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and donor databasesExceptional organizational skills, self-directed, able to work independently as well as part of a team.Requires travel in Valley View service area approximately 30-50% of the time, including some evening and weekend work. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Salary Range
