Licensed Practical Nurse (Nights) - Homeless Shelter

A growing social service agency is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join their team.

About the Opportunity :

Shift : Nights

Schedule : 1 shift per week, Wednesdays

Hours : 8pm-8am

Setting : Homeless shelter

Responsibilities : :

Assists with calling for refills

Assures safe storage of medications

Ensures that clients have appropriate supplies and access to medications

Monitors client reactions for side effects and reporting to prescribing provider

Provides nursing screening of all new clients

Assists in connecting psychiatric, medical and substance abuse problems to appropriate providers

Participates in clinical meetings with medical staff, shelter case management, & administrative staff

Communicates regularly with on-site psychiatric and medical providers, case managers and on-site operations & administrative staff

Administers medications ordered by the providers; administers injections ordered by providers

Provides medication teaching as needed

Assists clients with self-administer medications

Provides ongoing health education and support to clients

Performs other duties, as needed

Qualifications :

Active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse license

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification

3 years of clinical experience working as a nurse with the mental health or substance abuse population

Experience working with an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system

Must have knowledge Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel

Must have excellent oral and listening skills

Must have the ability to interface with clients as well as all levels of staff
