Anticipated Starting Salary Range : $51,300 - $68,000

The State Corporation Commission's (SCC) Bureau of Insurance (BOI) seeks an Insurance Examiner interested in a rewarding public service career. The Insurance Examiner works in BOI's Life and Health Division and primarily reviews HMO and group accident and sickness insurance policy form submissions to ensure compliance with the Virginia Insurance and Administrative Codes. Additional responsibilities of the Insurance Examiner are below :

• Review and analyze group insurance forms and rates filed with the BOI Life and Health Division for review and approval
• Determine each filings' compliance with applicable statutes, administrative letters and orders and regulations
• Maintain clear and accurate records of filings in SERFF in accordance with section procedures
• Identify deficiencies in the filing and correspond and meet with companies to obtain information, corrections and amendments
• Work with other BOI sections, internal staff and external agencies in the review of group forms and rates
• Respond to internal and external inquiries and requests for information
• Participate in meetings and special projects, as needed
• Performing related work as required
