Special Education Teacher (SPED) Job Duties
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
Provide specialized instruction in small group or inclusive classroom settings
Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff
Adapt lessons and materials to meet students individual learning needs
Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with district and state standards
Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams
Federal and State Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA regulations
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Illinois school districts
