In this position…
Engine mapping is the foundation of engine calibration and feeds the PT Dyno and Commodity Calibration processes. The role of a mapping engineer is to develop the calibration values required for fundamental engine operation. This includes characterization or modeling of engine attributes and optimization of engine actuator setpoints. A mapping engineer is responsible for collecting and analyzing data run on an engine-only dynamometer under steady state conditions and developing calibrations from this empirical data. This includes :
