Position Value Proposition :

We are seeking a Senior Safety Manager (SSM) to lead and support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives across multiple job sites. This field-based role serves as the key safety leadership contact for regional project teams and clients. The SSM drives compliance, safety culture, and operational readiness to ensure Graywolf's Zero Injury principles are fully integrated across all levels of our workforce.

Core Responsibilities :

Operations Leadership

Drive active engagement in Graywolf’s safety program among all levels of management and craft.

Ensure a written site-specific safety plan is in place for each project and assist with its development when needed.

Provide on-site leadership and technical support to project teams on all safety matters.

Coordinate medical arrangements and injury management protocols for assigned projects.

Support incident case management and corrective action implementation.

Facilitate and respond to regulatory inspections or inquiries.

Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and safety alerts as needed.

Participate in project kickoffs to embed safety planning early in execution.

Forecast and coordinate site safety staffing needs with the EHS Director.

Compliance Oversight

Conduct monthly documented site safety audits and close-out meetings with project leadership.

Ensure full compliance with Graywolf policies, OSHA standards, and state regulations.

Track leading indicators and proactively recommend preventative measures.

Champion site participation in the Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) program.

Oversee adherence to the company’s drug testing and environmental permitting policies.

Ensure front-line supervisors understand and fulfill their safety responsibilities.

Promote reporting of near misses and good catches to reinforce a proactive safety culture.

Training & Development

Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and safety professionals.

Provide ongoing mentorship and support for safety staff across assigned projects.

Assess safety team leadership capabilities and identify growth opportunities.

Supervisory Duties

Conduct performance evaluations for project safety professionals.

Select and assign team members based on project scope and qualifications.

Support HR and EHS leadership in recruiting site safety professionals.

Review and approve timecards; lead discussions regarding staffing reductions as needed.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field (preferred)

OSHA 500 certification (preferred) or OSHA 30 (required)

CHST certification (required if no degree)

CSP certification (preferred)

Minimum of 5 years of field safety management experience in construction or industrial environments

Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial hygiene, and safety management systems

Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills

Ability to influence at all levels of an organization

Physical / Site Requirements :

Physically able to access all areas of active construction sites

Work in extreme temperatures, dusty or dirty environments, and around fumes or smoke

Ability to walk, climb, and lift up to 45 pounds on job sites
