Senior Accountant Inventory (Maternity Leave Coverage)

We are seeking a Senior Accountant Inventory to provide maternity leave coverage from January 2026 through May 2026, with a preferred start in Mid-October 2025 for shadowing and training. This role is fully on-site and will focus on inventory accounting, reserves, reconciliations, and supporting month-end close in a high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and tracking inventory costs across multiple locations and distribution channels.
  • Maintaining and reconciling inventory accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Performing variance analysis on inventory and related accounts.
  • Collaborating with Accounts Payable (inventory costing), IT (inventory adjustments), and branch operations (~400 locations).
  • Preparing and managing reserves, including inventory obsolescence, returns, warranty, and other accruals.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close activities related to inventory and COGS.
  • Preparing approximately 2530 journal entries per month and 12 balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintaining Excel models and dashboards for reporting and decision-making.
  • Identifying and recommending process improvements related to inventory and cost tracking.
  • Assisting with internal and external audits pertaining to inventory and cost accounting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory analysis, and distribution (large company experience strongly preferred).
  • Solid understanding of GAAP related to inventory and reserves.
  • Proven experience managing reserves (inventory, warranty, returns, etc.).
  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills with cross-department collaboration.
  • Systems experience preferred : Infor CSD (ERP), Blackline (entries & reconciliations), Informatica (subledger data extraction to Excel).
