Description :

This complex position is responsible for performing remote surveillance for multiple locations specific to cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station.

The technician will recognize, record, and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias following established standards and procedures.

Work is primarily performed in a centralized monitoring unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Each technician can potentially monitor up to 60 patients due to highly advanced IT technology capabilities.

The incumbent is expected to accurately recognize cardiac rhythms and follow command center policies.

They must take appropriate action and follow established protocols in notifying local RN staff of changes in cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias.

Proper communication channels must be followed in handling routine and emergency situations.

The incumbent is expected to have awareness of and strive to improve patient outcomes and department metrics.

Supervisory personnel and management will be available for support.

This position requires a commitment to working 12-hour shifts.

Weekend work is mandatory with a required minimum of 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period.

Holidays are also required.

Floating opportunities may be available for cross-training in additional roles as needed.

Business casual dress code is to be maintained.

Unit-specific orientation will be required to ensure familiarity with protocols and systems.

The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts under specified conditions.

Experience with EPIC or CERNER systems is preferred.
