This is a full-time staff position. The position is covered under the WGA-ABC National Agreement.

Responsibilities This individual is a critical member of our newsroom whose responsibilities involve assigning crews, reporters, gathering information about developing news stories, and actively identifying and generating original high-impact stories that reflect the diversity of our audience.

Handle all inquiries and requests from a variety of individuals and organizations.

Work closely with news managers, producers, and other assignment editors to coordinate coverage of breaking and daily stories.

Identifying social media content for news stories and getting permission for use

Interact with viewers daily on the phone and on social media.

Basic Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of TV newsroom experience.

Strong teammate who interacts in a positive, ethical, and compassionate way with other employees and the public.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A high degree of ethics, empathy, professionalism, and the ability to function well under pressure in fast-paced situations

Flexible to work various shifts as needed, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Requirements Knowledge of police scanners and online newsgathering

Required Education High school diploma or equivalent experience

Preferred Education College Degree

The hiring range for this WGA role in New York is $139,913 to $145,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
