• One years' recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN\n
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations\n
• Current BLS certification (AHA / ARC)\n
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) CertificationPreferred Qualifications : \n
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification\n
• STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC)\n
• Other certifications and licenses may be required for this positionSummary : \n\nThe Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting. This role encompasses assessing maternal and fetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The position requires strong clinical skills in obstetrics, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.Essential Work Functions : \n
• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns\n
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques\n
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients\n
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn\n
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care\n
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care\n
• Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence-based protocols\n
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record\n
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes\n
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results\n
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures\n
• Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care\n
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursingRequired Essential Skills : \n

• Ability to read / comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills\n

• Technical / Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push / pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and / or using department equipment\n
• Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail\n
