Job Summary :

  • The Acute Care Technician performs under the direct supervision of the RN and is delegated tasks to achieve quality patient care.
  • Involved in the implementation phase of the nursing process and is organizationally accountable to the Patient Care Manager.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide technical care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to collect data
  • Relays appropriate data to nurse, status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his / her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to safely transport patients to vehicle when discharged.
  • Demonstrates ability to safely transport patients throughout the building as necessary.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations :

  • Demonstrates technical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting equipment including, but not limited to suction machine, glucose monitor, manual and automatic blood pressure machine, patient bed, call light, telephone, computer, printer, scanner, fax, wheelchairs, bedside commode chairs, walkers, Hoyer lift, CPM, SCD, foot pumps, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to accurately obtain vital signs, intake and output, and lab specimens and immediately report abnormalities to the nurse to facilitate quality of care for patients.
  • Demonstrates ability to accurately document patient information in the computer system to ensure patient care team has access to up-to-date information.
  • Demonstrates ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and / or patient.
  • Embraces and practices WE CARE philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker, employee, and nonemployee interactions.
  • Qualifications : Education / Skills :

    High School Diploma / GED and completion of an approved Nurse Aide training course required. Successful completion of Acute Care Technician course at FGH during clinical orientation required.

    Work Experience :

    Prior experience working as a Nurse Aide and / or active attendance in nursing school preferred.

  • Basic Life Support
  • Within 30 Days of Employment

    Required

  • Rhythm Strip Interpretation for Techs
  • Within 90 Days of Employment
