The Landfill Foreman position is responsible to assist with coordinating landfill operations and employees to ensure that performance and productivity goals are met while maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies / procedures.
Responsibilities of Position :
- Assist management with the daily activities of landfill staff
- Monitor and maintain landfill to ensure all safety and compliance requirements are met or exceeded
- Work with operators to ensure established production and quality control standards are met
- Oversee operation of landfill working face and / or construction areas and complete necessary daily reports
- Track certifications of landfill staff and provide training as needed
- Continuously monitor the equipment to ensure proper operation and minimal down time and preventive maintenance or repairs are being completed timely and efficiently
- Clean waste from equipment body and wheels or tracks
- Operate equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, federal and agency regulations and company policies and ensure the same of others
- Professionally interact with internal and external customers to maintain a positive work atmosphere
- Ensure all other operating and labor tasks assigned are completed timely
- Perform other duties as assigned

Must meet requirements for Heavy Equipment Operator roleAbility to operate all landfill equipment proficientlyMust be able to read and understand landfill plans and set grades using surveying equipmentMust be familiar with compliance requirements regarding landfill operationsAbility to work on a computer as neededMust be dependable, a self-starter, and able to identify and perform daily operational requirementsExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position :
1-2 years experience operating heavy equipment1-2 years of landfill experience or equivalentPrevious foreman or management experience preferredSurveying and GPS experience preferredConstruction background a plusPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday :
Frequently lifting / carrying / pushing / pulling a max of 35 lbsOccasionally lifting / carrying / pushing / pulling a max of 50 lbsRarely lifting / carrying / pushing / pulling a max of 100 lbsContinuously working outsideFrequently working in changing temperatures, wet / humid conditionsContinuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matterOccasionally stooping / kneeling / crouching / crawlingFrequently climbing and / or balancingOccasionally sittingFrequently standing / walkingAdditional Working Conditions / Aspects :
