Position Summary :

The Assessor is responsible for compiling, gathering, and assembling all information needed for a complete Comprehensive Child and Family Assessments for children and families referred by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). The assessor conducts structured interviews with the assigned clients to assist DFCS staff, the juvenile court, families, and providers in developing case plans, making placement decisions, expediting permanency, and planning for effective service intervention.

Job Type : Contract

Location : Clayton; Cobb; Gwinnett; Hall; and other Assigned Counties

Education & Compensation :

Master's degree : in either Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and family therapy (or related field)

Eligible for Provisional / Clinical licensure (LAPC, LMSW, LAMFT) -OR- Clinical Licensure : In possession of a provisional or clinical license.

Requirements : Must be able to pass a background check ( Background check is a mandatory requirement for employment and / or contracting. Please note that the cost of fingerprinting is the sole responsibility of the applicant / employee and will not be reimbursed by the agency. )

Compensation :

GEORGIA CLINICAL LICENSE (LPC, LMFT, LCSW)

Assessments : Range $100-$400 Comprehensive child and family assessment (Initials & Updates, etc.) and Kinship Assessments.

GEORGIA PROVISIONAL LICENSE (LAPC, LAMFT, LMSW)

Assessments : Range $80-$325 Comprehensive child and family assessment (Initials & Updates, etc.) and Kinship Assessments.

MASTERS DEGREE (license eligible) :

Assessments : Range $50-$275 Kinship Assessment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct structured interviews with children, caregivers, family members, DFCS staff, and collateral contacts
  • Review available records, including trauma assessment, EPSDT medical and dental exams.
  • Administer screening tools or instruments as appropriate (with training provided)
  • Develop and submit an initial and / or updated CCFA assessment within 15 calendar days of the referral from DFCS
  • Develop and submit Kinship assessment within 10 calendar days of the referral from DFCS
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Supervisor and / or Licensed Clinical Documentation Specialist and participate in case consultations if requested
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure all practices comply with HIPAA and DFCS standards
  • Accurately document case notes, service activities, and submit reports electronically
  • Attend mandatory trainings, FTM or MDT, or Court Appearance and / or Testimony as required
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous experience completing CCFAs and / or Kinship assessments for DFCS
  • Familiarity with Georgia DFCS documentation and reporting standards
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) a plus
