Diesel Mechanic – Heavy Equipment
About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot heavy mining equipment—including haul trucks, loaders, drills, bulldozers, and conveyors. This hands-on role is vital to keeping our operations running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically skilled, and thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Diagnose, repair, and rebuild heavy equipment and power systems
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on vehicles and machinery
Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems using technical drawings and test equipment
Weld and fabricate parts as needed
Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists, hand tools, and pneumatic tools
Operate equipment to test performance before and after repairs
Maintain accurate work logs and complete assigned paperwork each shift
Support housekeeping, safety, and compliance efforts throughout the facility
Assist and train co-workers and new team members
Communicate safety or operational concerns to supervisors promptly
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required
Diesel mechanic certification required; CAT SIS training preferred
5+ years of experience in industrial or mining environments
5+ years of experience with heavy equipment maintenance and repair
Familiarity with OEM standards, sub-systems, and support equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, conveyors)
Ability to diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Proficient with lifting devices, power tools, and Microsoft Office
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Must be able to speak, read, and understand English
