Summary

The Curriculum Manager is responsible for developing a quality education curriculum that supports the learning goals of the center. The Curriculum Manager should be familiar with Orton-Gillingham, Heggerty, Everyday Math and emergent curriculum. The Curriculum Manager works with the Teachers to ensure they are prepared and comfortable with the different programs, and emphasizes emergent curriculumdriven by children's interests. Collaboration with other administrators, and the use ofdocumentationto make learning visible and guide future planning is a must. S / he assists with professional development plans for the center and individual teachers. S / he also work closely with the Assistant Director to determine and monitor daily staffing needs, fill absences and provide support during staffing gaps.

Duties

  • Develop curriculum that meets the learning goals of the center and supports cognitive development of the children. Plans enrichment activities for the Aftercare Program.
  • Work with Teachers to develop lesson plans that support curriculum; ensure they have access to appropriate materials.
  • Review Teacher notes and comments and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Teachers to prepare means of sharing curriculum with parents.
  • Identify educational opportunities to further develop skills of center staff.
  • Stay abreast of new developments in early learning curricula; introduce curricula improvements.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director to determine and monitor daily staffing needs, fill absences and provide support during staffing gaps.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor of Arts in Education or related field
  • Curriculum development with Orton-Gillingham, Heggerty, Everyday Math and emergent curriculum.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in early childhood setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development.
  • Ability to work well with others and to foster a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass health screening.

    • Benefits

    Salary : School year is August 1 through May 31

  • Monday-Friday, approx. 37+ hrs. per week, 8 : 45-4 : 45

    • Financial Benefits :

  • Children of staff may attend our school if room is available. The Registration Fee is waived for all staff children and partial scholarships may be available.
  • Enrolled children of staff members may attend extended day services without charge when the staff member is working during those hours at the school.
  • If you work an average of 20 hours per week per their contract you become eligible to participate in a Simple IRA. Employee wage contributions are unlimited. Second Presbyterian will match up to 3% of wages dollar for dollar.

  • Our program runs from August through May, and we follow a traditional school calendar including Christmas and Spring break. Our staff and faculty receive a paycheck year-round.
  • The Board pays pertinent early childhood conference registration fees (LECA / KECA / SECA, NAEYC) etc. and the fee for state-mandated CPR and pediatric first aid courses.
  • Board-Parents treat staff to weeklong "Teacher Appreciation Week" and many luncheons.
