Responsible for planning and estimating price for print projects, including analyzing various print methods and location to produce a print job taking into account various options available to transport raw materials, semi-finished products and deliver final product to desired end users. Well versed with print industry practices, the Senior Print Logistics and Estimator is expert in estimating digital printing, offset printing and production of indoor and outdoor signage materials, kitting and fulfillment and shipping. Assists in establishing and improving estimation methodologies and serves as advisor to the estimation and management teams. Project planning and estimation will be custom in nature and require coordination with production managers and cross functional teams within the corporate office in a short time to develop the overall pricing. Maintain awaress of competitive practice in value-based pricing models and maximize the revenue, balancing FedEx unique advantage in the market against customer’s need.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze print projects to determine production requirements and match against narrow or wide format digital and offset capabilities. Analyze various options for delivering printed product to the customer, accounting for special customer and production needs including proof-of-receipt and special request for time / location.
  • Determine distribution of print jobs through a network of production facilities, optimizing time and cost. Collaborate with production managers to develop necessary operational plan for execution. Coordinate with substrate and paper vendors to evaluate feasibility of large projects across the country.
  • Estimate cost and time required for production and delivery of digital, offset, signage and outsource print work.
  • Communicate with sales and customer service representatives and occasionally customers and print buyers to understand project details.

Communicate with approved outsource vendors to determine best price for the project.

  • Discuss project specifications and options with production managers to develop optimum project pricing. Identify cost-saving alternate production specifications and articulate to sales team and customers.
  • Assist sales in preparing customer facing pricing models for sales to present to customers.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop models to charge for value-add services, including fast turn-time, special delivery time / location, seasonal demands, custom technology solutions, concierge service and compliance reporting.
  • Track bids / wins / loss and make recommendation to management for changes required in the overall production / pricing guardrails
  • Lead efforts for improving estimation process and train team on new pricing tools and processes. Advise the estimation and management teams on industry trends and best practices that influence print pricing
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Minimum Education

    Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience.

    Minimum Experience

    Eight (8) years of print production experience in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment and estimating digital and offset print projects

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

    Proficiency Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and related graphic design tools.

    Strong communication skills to discuss operational plan and price with sales reps and customers.

    Strong aptitude for financial systems with an understanding of cash flow and financial mathematics.
