Overview
Assistant Closing Manager at BJ's Wholesale Club. This role provides leadership and direction within the club and drives performance, including oversight of Recovery, Utility, and Perishable departments (Produce, Meat, Bakery, Deli, Dairy / Freezer) as well as overnight prep to ensure areas are clean, stocked, and ready for the morning open. The position also supports policy adherence, member service, and club operations as Manager on Duty (MOD) when needed. A valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification is required and must be maintained. In Florida, a qualifier certification through the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for retail propane oversight is required. Yearly certification for a forklift license is also required.
Location : Tampa, FL. Compensation : starting from $20.00 per hour; salary range may vary by location, education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
Working closely with the Closing Manager, the Assistant Closing Manager leads club operations and drives performance. Responsibilities include supervising, when on MOD, recovery, utility, and perishable departments; ensuring cleanliness, stock, and readiness for morning open; enforcing policies and procedures; delivering a positive member experience; and supporting audit compliance, training, onboarding, and certifications to ensure food safety and operational excellence. The role also requires leadership and direction within the club and may involve serving as MOD as needed.
Major tasks include maintaining live GOLD standards, ensuring proper closing procedures, resolving member issues, monitoring inventory and freshness in the evening, enforcing sanitation, and coaching team members. The role requires using tools such as Hot List, NAFS, electronic reports, price sign reports, and productivity dashboards, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to improve closing routines and member experience.
Open shift availability is required. Must have the ability to operate safely and efficiently and maintain regular, predictable attendance.

2 years of experience in retail, supermarket, or warehouse perishable operations preferred.Experience in managing inventory turnover and waste reduction strategies.SERV Safe certification required.High school diploma required; college degree preferred.Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Email) required.Open shift availability required.Must be at least 18 years old.Job Conditions
