Summary : We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead our Structural Design Engineering group. This role involves providing engineering expertise and oversight for transmission line-related structural design efforts. The Senior Manager will manage procedure development to support strategic plans and objectives, working with other departments and outside agencies to establish goals and requirements for complex transmission line engineering functions.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Direct and lead structural design engineers in all aspects of engineering, including activities engaging external consultants.
- Ensure projects are identified, planned, approved, and implemented in support of strategic initiatives.
- Manage efforts for engineering analysis, design, construction, and operational commissioning of new transmission line projects.
- Oversee design expertise to ensure that produced engineering outcomes meet industry standards and follow quality control procedures.
- Lead and mentor team members to enhance technical skills and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Standards :
Ensure compliance with applicable ANSI / IEEE, NERC Reliability, NESC, ATSM, and ASCE standards.Budgeting and Staffing :
Develop and support annual, mid-term, and long-term budgets for transmission resources.Prepare and oversee job cost estimates and track financial progress.Monitor manpower, ensure proper staffing and training, and implement a succession plan.Management, Supervision, and Leadership :
Serve as a member of the management team, promoting integration between divisions.Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports, conduct performance appraisals, and participate in hiring / termination decisions.Safety :
Lead by example and ensure a safe working environment, setting high safety standards and expectations.Qualifications :
Professional Engineer license required.Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET accredited), preferably civil, structural, or electrical.12+ years of practical utility and / or utility engineering consultant experience.5+ years of experience in progressive leadership roles.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :
