Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts, Call coverage after hours and weekends on a rotating basis.

Here at Nuvance Health, now part of Northwell, we are seeking to add an experienced Sonographer to our growing per diem team. Our Medical Sonographers  ( Ultrasound Technician , Diagnostic Medical technologist , Radiological Tech ) provide health care services applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Our sonographers perform ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in the following areas : OB / GYN, abdomen, pediatric extremities and vascular procedures.  Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration.  PRN rate based on full years experience and ranges from $50.57 - 63.22 / hour plus shift differentials.

Job Summary :

Performs diagnostic ultrasonic procedures for the diagnosis of disease, in accordance with established protocols.

Duties :

• Explains the test to the patient
• Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical / health care errors.
• Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of test
• Obtains permanent record of internal examination by adhering to PACS / Archive protocol.
