Summary
This full-time position splits the workday between two departments. The employee will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the mailroom and law library. When the primary staff member in either department is out of the office, the employee will serve as the full-day fill-in to ensure continuity of service.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent required. Two years of knowledge of general office practices and procedures preferred. County government organization and services experience desirable.

KNOWLEDGE OF
SKILL / ABILITY TO The ideal candidate must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and coordinate effectively with staff, departments, officials, and the public. Strong administrative and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, manage time-sensitive deadlines, and maintain confidentiality. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, ten-key, and data entry is required, as is familiarity with computers in a local network environment and standard office equipment, including Word, Excel, library systems, printers, and fax machines. The candidate must be able to read and understand Midland County personnel policies and written instructions, analyze and interpret data, use correct grammar and spelling, and accurately proofread and type documents. They should be capable of performing calculations, maintaining organized records, preparing reports efficiently, and learning new material through instruction or observation.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have or be able to obtain a Notary Public certification. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license (or state-equivalent), have reliable transportation, and meet insurability requirements of the County's vehicle insurance provider.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, write or feel; reach with hands and arms; bend, crouch, and kneel; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. A large percentage of the duties require standing and / or walking. The employee must frequently lift and / or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds such as, stacks of records, or other similar objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires standing, walking, lifting, and frequent interaction with staff and the public. Work is split between a legal law library environment and a fast-paced mail processing space.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
