The Kitchen Steward (Part-Time) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. This includes washing and sanitizing equipment, dishes, and utensils; sweeping and mopping floors; removing waste; and assisting with various kitchen production tasks as needed.

What you’ll do in your role :

  • Ensure the availability of clean pots, pans, utensils, and equipment at all times.
  • Properly wash, rinse, sanitize, and store kitchenware using a commercial dish machine and / or 3-bay sink.
  • Maintain a clutter-free, organized dishwashing area.
  • Set up and maintain dish stations, including monitoring water changes and proper chemical usage per guidelines.
  • Clean kitchen machines and appliances such as mixers, ovens, and stationary equipment.
  • Sweep and mop floors regularly to maintain a clean and dry work environment.
  • Remove trash and recyclables; clean and rinse garbage cans as needed.
  • Maintain trash cans throughout the shift and ensure final disposal at the end of the shift.
  • Apply ServSafe training to ensure compliance with ServSafe, Feeding America, and New Jersey Department of Health guidelines.
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff with additional kitchen tasks as required.
  • Assist in production across all areas of the kitchen.

  • What you’ll need to be successful in this role :

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Commitment to the mission of alleviating hunger and supporting the community.
  • Pay Transparency : The salary range for this part-time position is an hourly rate of $21.00-$25.00. The final rate may be influenced by factors such as the position's scope and responsibilities, work experience, training, job-related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
