Overview

Safety Engineer I and II - Structured Cabling - Fiberoptics at Mortenson. This role is responsible for implementing Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation / training
  • Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting
  • Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning / hazard analysis
  • Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards / regulations, serve as safety resource, attend / chair safety meetings
  • Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety / health / OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget
  • Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred
  • OR High school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30 Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience
  • Previous related internship experience a plus
  • Current driver's license
  • Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety-related software programs
  • Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback, ability to travel up to 100%
  • Pay and Location

  • Safety Engineer I : The base pay range is $76,800 - $96,000
  • Safety Engineer II : The base pay range is $79,800 - $107,700
  • Actual range may vary by office location (Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Washington, DC)
