About the Role :
PTS Advance is seeking an Estimator to support a top-tier electrical construction company specializing in utility and infrastructure projects. The Estimator will assist in developing accurate and competitive bids, evaluating contract documents, performing material take-offs, and preparing detailed cost estimates. This position offers hands-on experience and mentorship under a Senior Estimator, providing growth opportunities within a dynamic construction environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, proposals, and BOMs to define scope and cost requirements.
- Perform material and labor take-offs for electrical construction work (e.g., poles, conduits, wire, and related components).
- Support the preparation of bid proposals , including pricing, clarifications, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Identify potential project risks, construction methods, and schedule constraints , escalating to Senior Estimator for review.
- Assist with subcontractor outreach , distributing bid documents and tracking quotes and addenda.
- Enter materials, labor, and equipment data into pricing sheets and estimating tools for review and finalization.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site walk-throughs ; document existing conditions, access limitations, and work requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Management and Operations teams to ensure cost accuracy and scope alignment .
- Generate and verify time, equipment, and storm restoration rates for estimating purposes.
- Set up projects in JDE and develop WBS codes and cost structures for job budgets.
- Support RFI, sustainability, and commercial questionnaire preparation for proposal submissions.
- Participate in post-bid reviews to compare as-bid versus actual costs and track estimating performance.
- Maintain and update bid data within SharePoint and Salesforce systems.
Training & Development :

Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project – classroom and on-the-job training (basic to advanced levels).Internal estimating tools and Irby bid sheet system – hands-on learning alongside experienced estimators.Field exposure to observe active electrical construction work and understand cost drivers.Contract and risk management training through senior leadership and legal teams.Access to Bid Preparation and Leadership Development courses.Qualifications :
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Eager to learn and grow within the electrical construction industry.Previous estimating or construction experience preferred but not required.Why Join PTS Advance :
