Sales / Intake Attorney – Criminal Defense | Michael & Associates, California

Michael & Associates is redefining what it means to be a criminal defense firm in California.

After achieving remarkable success in Texas , we’re now expanding into California , bringing our proven model of innovation, efficiency, and elite client service to the West Coast.

Our mission is to become the largest and most effective defense firm in the nation within three years — while fostering a culture where attorneys thrive personally and professionally, and every client receives top-tier defense and white-glove service .

Who We Are

We’re not your typical defense firm. We combine legal expertise with the operational excellence of leading tech companies — using advanced digital marketing, streamlined processes, and data-driven systems to deliver a premium, white-glove client experience.

This approach has already made us one of the largest defense firms in Texas , and now we’re expanding into California with the same mission : to redefine criminal defense .

About the Role

As a Sales / Intake Attorney , you’re the first point of contact for individuals facing criminal charges. You’ll speak with potential clients, understand their situation, and help them see the value and power of having Michael & Associates on their side.

This is not a cold-calling role — you’ll be speaking with pre-qualified potential clients who are actively seeking representation. Your ability to listen, empathize, and communicate clearly will be key to helping clients feel supported from the very first call.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Client Acquisition : Conduct daily consultations with pre-qualified potential clients (20 per day). Understand their legal situation, communicate our value, and guide them through the intake process to secure representation.
  • Educate and Advise : Develop deep knowledge of criminal law and our firm’s approach to various case types, so you can confidently answer questions and build trust.
  • Client Connection : Show empathy and professionalism with every call. Many of our clients are in crisis — your voice and demeanor can turn fear into confidence.
  • Brand Representation : As the firm’s first point of contact, you embody our values of zealous advocacy and premium client service . Every interaction should leave potential clients thinking, “Michael & Associates really cares.”

Why You’ll Love This Role

1. Be Part of a Fast-Growing Firm

You’ll be joining our California launch team — the ground floor of a national expansion. Help build something new and be part of a firm that’s scaling fast.

2. Career Growth and Advancement

Criminal defense rarely offers real growth paths. We’re changing that by building a firm where talented attorneys can advance, lead teams, and develop their careers long-term.

3. Forward-Thinking Culture

We embrace technology, automation, and continuous improvement — freeing our attorneys to focus on clients, not busywork.

4. Team Collaboration

No lone wolves here. Every client benefits from the expertise of the entire firm. You’ll work alongside highly skilled attorneys who share your passion for excellence.

5. Make a Real Difference

Every day, you’ll help people through one of the most stressful times in their lives — providing hope, clarity, and first-rate representation. Our reviews speak for themselves : we fight hard and care deeply.

Requirements

  • You Enjoy Doing Consults and Have Experience Selling to New Clients
  • You’ll be on the phone a lot — every single day — speaking with potential clients who need help. If you don’t absolutely love engaging with people, listening to their stories, and guiding them toward the best legal solution, this isn’t the right fit. But if you thrive on meaningful conversations and helping clients take that next step toward peace of mind, you’ll excel here.

  • Strong Phone Sales Skills
  • It’s not just about talking — it’s about connecting. You should be friendly, empathetic, and professional, but also confident, knowledgeable about the law, and capable of handling any questions or concerns potential clients may raise. Prior experience in phone-based sales or client consultations is a major plus.

  • Appropriate License
  • You must have one of the following :

  • An active California Bar license , or a clear plan to obtain one; or
  • An active Bar license from another state for 5+ years , which can streamline admission to the California Bar; or
  • A Bar license from a state that has reciprocity with California (if applicable).
  • You Love Being on the Phone — Seriously
  • We can’t emphasize this enough : this role is all about connecting with clients over the phone. If talking with people energizes you and you find satisfaction in helping them during one of the most stressful times in their lives, you’ll love this job. If not, this probably isn’t your ideal fit.

    Benefits

Competitive Salary Range : $130000– $200000 per year  (depending on experience and performance)
