Water Meter Technician

Under basic supervision, the Water Meter Technician assembles, repairs, and tests residential and commercial water meters.

• Performs final flow, calibration, and pressure test on all meters; prepares and maintains reports and records on all work completed.
• Installs auto flush sites for chlorine residual monitoring and flush programs.
• Replaces defective water meters; replaces and maintain meter boxes and vaults; performs pressure and flow tests at meters in the system.
• Assists utility crews with repairing mains and services; assists contractors with valve operations of new and existing construction projects.
• Locates water, wastewater, storm drain, fiber optic, and City electrical lines.
• Maintains warehouse parts and supplies to fulfill department needs.
• Performs on call duties as assigned.

Performs related duties as required or assignedWork is performed outdoors and requires exposure to various weather conditions and potential chemical, traffic, and electrical hazards. May be required to traverse uneven surfaces and lift and move objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
