Position Summary :
As a Quality Inspector – NDT, you will play a critical role in verifying the structural and dimensional integrity of our parts and welded components. This position uses a wide range of nondestructive and destructive testing techniques to ensure that Schwing’s products meet rigorous quality and safety standards. If you are detail-oriented, certified in NDT methods, and thrive in a production environment, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform inspections of incoming steel and components using nondestructive and destructive methods
- Conduct dimensional and metallurgical inspections of piece parts to ensure conformance to requirements
- Perform in-process inspections of weldments (joint fit-up, alignment, and weld quality) using NDT and dimensional techniques
- Execute nondestructive testing using Ultrasonic (UT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Liquid Penetrant (PT) methods; evaluate results
- Conduct destructive testing of weld joints (e.g., annual working weld tests)
- Inspect machined weldments using close tolerance measuring and test equipment
- Support the company-wide calibration and management of measuring and test equipment
- Set up and verify calibration of inspection tools used in the machine shop
- Assist in developing inspection procedures and techniques in accordance with German DIN standards and AWS guidelines
- Maintain accurate documentation and inspection records for all products (e.g., booms, frames, outriggers)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Associate’s degree in Nondestructive Testing requiredMinimum 2 years of NDT and inspection experience in a manufacturing environmentCertifications required :Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – American Welding SocietyASNT Level I & II certifications in :Ultrasonic Testing (UT)Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic, and electrical schematicsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and handle a high workloadProficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience preferredFamiliarity with hydraulic, electrical, gas, and diesel systemsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsPhysical Requirements :
