This role involves designing and developing processes for customer products and manufacturing tooling, and setting up the manufacturing process for Printed Circuit Boards and, in some cases, full box builds in an engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic to complex process design and documentation for customer products and related tooling to meet customer requirements and Benchmark manufacturing support needs
- Develop diagrams of components and assemblies; perform engineering computations and write / edit specifications
- Create modified designs for new or existing products and tooling; verify work against the verification plan (dimensions, materials, quantities)
- Interact with vendors to ensure proper fabrication of mechanical components for products, testers, and tooling
- Assist assembly of tooling and prototypes; perform tolerance analysis, material selection, and selection of fabrication methods
- Support Hardware, Software, PCB Design, Functional Test and ICT test for product, test, and tooling development
- Coordinate with customers and Benchmark teams to understand requirements and communicate technical issues
- Follow project plans and report status to leadership; develop proposals and cost estimates
- Perform DFX reviews and create necessary documentation; promote Design for Excellence with customers
- Develop and maintain process for Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA); create detailed mechanical drawings and participate in continuous improvement activities
- Provide intermediate and complex level process design and documentation; lead less experienced engineers in best practices
- Initiate concepts for solving complex engineering problems; prepare technical presentations for customers
- Collaborate with Sustaining Engineering to develop products that leverage Benchmark processes
- Develop processes for plastics and machined parts and participate in advanced / new technologies
- Lead research and development for new design methods and tools
- Coordinate process engineering strategies for Benchmark customers
- Support a 24 / 7 global business operation as required
- Understand manufacturing processes for sheet-metal, plastic parts, castings, machined parts, and electromechanical mechanisms; select materials for manufacturing customer products, tooling, and test fixtures
- Perform process capability analysis on production processes; prepare technical presentations for customers
- Contribute to continuous improvement with complete documentation and follow-up presentations
Qualifications and Requirements
4 year Engineering or Technical Degree (Manufacturing or Electrical Engineer) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience8 years of manufacturing engineering experienceExpert in advanced technologies and applications; ASQ certifiedStrong understanding of Design for Excellence (DFX) philosophy and ability to promote with customersExcellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, multitasking, organization, and attention to detailAbility to work with diverse groups and demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, and professionalismAbility to work with minimal supervision and make independent engineering judgmentsKnowledge of continuous improvement tools; ability to perform process capability analysisProficient with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools; strong problem-solving and decision-making skillsAvailable for travel up to 10-20% (day, overnight, international) as requiredEducation

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation Range : $101,546.00 to $124,932.00 USD. Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including skills, certifications, experience, and business needs.
