Electrical Engineering Manager, Research
Meta is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead our team in incubating research into product-level readiness. You'll assess the intake of requirements, manage program schedules, identify risks, and communicate with stakeholders. As a liaison between researchers, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, you'll determine project priorities and feasibility. Your expertise will guide EE design and architecture for custom systems. This complex role offers the opportunity to develop technologies that transform human communication and interaction.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Electrical Engineers responsible for Consumer Electronics technology development
- Develop and execute research & NTI roadmap and strategy in close coordination with product, research, and Cross Functional teams
- Develop plans, methods, and protocols to deliver roadmap strategy
- Perform architecture and design reviews to ensure hardware quality
- Effectively influence leaders and key partners to gain alignment through projects
- Champion engineering rigor throughout phase gate development
- Create specs and measurable metrics of success to deliver functional requirements
- Work with cross-functional managers and architects on hardware and software integration
- Provide team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching and mentoring
- Identify key roles required for team success and recruit top engineering talent
- Create career development plans, manage performance, create performance reviews
Minimum Qualifications
BS or higher education in Electrical or Computer Systems Engineering or equivalent8+ years of experience with system-level design including circuit design, system bring-up, integration, debug, and embedded firmware coordination3+ years experience managing a team of Electrical EngineersExperience leading development from schematic and PCB layout to assemblyExperience with System on Chip, RF (WiFi / BT), Batteries, Audio, Sensors Integration, Display, Custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) / Silicon, Haptics, Camera Sensors, and high speed Input / OutputExperience with digital circuit design and various communications protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, I2S, etcExperience in working with external manufacturing and design partners (CM, ODM)Familiarity with ECAD tools like OrCAD, Allegro, Mentor Graphics, and / or AltiumDirect experience in tech transfer or shipping high volume consumer hardwareCapacity to travel both domestically and internationallyPreferred Qualifications
Experience working in research engineering development environmentExperience working across technology readiness levelsExperience with 3rd party vendor engineering partners (CM + JDM + ODM)$170,000 / year to $240,000 / year + bonus + equity + benefits
