Overview

As the Air / Surface Search Radar & Electronic Navigation Systems Technician working for Hepburn and Sons LLC, you will provide Fleet Technical Assistance. You will be expected to interpret shipboard technical documents to assess, repair and document equipment deficiencies.

This is a contingent position based on award / funding from the customer.

This position involves working in both an office environment and a shipboard environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the evaluation and correction of fleet system / equipment casualties and provide technical assistance on mechanical / electrical / electronic Combat Systems casualty repairs IAW the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and fleet requirements
  • Provide technical assistance for other systems
  • Provide problem analysis, troubleshooting, isolation, correction and checkout testing to provide a clear path for resolution returning the mechanical / electrical / electronic Combat Systems and related equipment to full operational condition
  • Perform the following system / equipment troubleshooting and evaluation tasks :

Provide distance support (DS) for ships and on-site technical assistance for mechanical / electrical / electronic Combat Systems and related equipment

  • Utilize hardware and software technical expertise to troubleshoot equipment failures to determine corrective repair action and train ship's force in the operation, maintenance and logistics support of specific equipment
  • Provide logistics support as an integral part of on-site technical assistance
  • Complete Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVR), in accordance with the current version of the COMUSFLTFORCOMINST 4790.3 Joint Fleet Maintenance (JFMM)
  • Research Departures from Specifications (DFS), Design Service Requests (DSR), Liaison Action Requests (LAR), and Work Specification Reviews (WSR)
  • Utilize Government software systems to track problems associated with systems / equipment, and for system analysis, to include TAAS-Info and Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) systems
  • Perform assessment and maintenance of shipboard systems and equipment and training in maintenance and overhaul processes
  • Perform the following operational assessment tasks during Total Ships Readiness Assessments, BMDRAs, INSURVs / MCIs, CSAs, and Pre-Deployment assessments or similar test and inspection programs as necessary :
  • Assessment Program tasks include the full spectrum of services required to perform system equipment assessment and inspections on all ship classes including scheduling and coordination; test procedure development and maintenance; parts / materials management; data entry into maintenance and supply information systems; discrepancy tracking, maintenance, and reporting; analysis; reports; technical and logistics research; and discrepancy resolution

  • Fleet Maintenance Program tasks include investigation of hardware and installation design and safety deficiencies; development of engineering solutions; engineering audits of prototype / production modifications; and preparation of engineering and technical reports
  • Engineering, technical, and repair tasks include development and maintenance of test, certification, and operation procedures; development of repair procedures and engineering change proposals; and adjudication of DFS and DSR requests. Provide integrated logistics and related support services including logistics audits, reviews and assessments
  • Perform the following ILS tasks :
  • Assess and recommend changes to shipboard ILS validations and verifications and review logistics documentation; submit 4790 / CK forms to document configuration changes including COSAL reviews, APL coverage, material requisitions, PMS documentation, and provisioning documentation

  • Assist ship's force in identifying, locating and tracking parts, material, specialized tools and equipment required for routine periodic and specialized maintenance actions
  • Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Must possess experience as outlined below for a minimum of three of the last seven years : a combination of mechanical and electrical disciplines, including :
  • Full-time, hands-on experience in Fleet Technical Assistance, Assessment and Logistical Support of U.S. Navy ships' Air / Surface Search Radar & Electronic Navigation Systems
  • Full-time, hands-on experience in interpreting shipboard technical documents to assess, repair and document equipment deficiencies, and configure equipment in alternate structures to meet mission requirements
  • Secret level DoD clearance
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Maintenance and Material Management (3M)
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain a 10-hour OSHA Maritime Employment Course #7615 completion card within 60 days of contract start date
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Able to work aloft, or in confined or secure spaces with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Capable of stooping, climbing stairs, and prolonged standing for up to 6 hours daily
