The Department of Defense (DoD) works cooperatively with U.S. allies and partners to reduce or eliminate weapons of mass destruction (WMD) threats. The cooperative nature of the DoD's activities yields a secondary benefit of strengthening regional alliances, deepening existing partnerships, and attracting new partners.
We are looking to hire an Electrical Engineer to serve as a U.S. Government client's subject matter expert responsible for reviewing and evaluating various counter-weapons of mass destruction (WMD) / nonproliferation design and construction projects around the world. This team specializes in the review and evaluation of designs associated with laboratory facilities, chemical and nuclear facilities, and border security installations; as well as supporting the client with requirements definition, project scoping, and proposal evaluation for a wide variety of international projects in collaboration with partner countries. Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to :
- Employ solid engineering skills in supporting diverse DoD's missions through design and construction projects abroad (OCONUS)
- Conduct site and facility assessments to define functional requirements for new construction and renovation projects
- Provide technical assistance to project managers in developing the scope of work (SOW) for new construction and renovation projects
- Perform technical evaluations of proposals from third-party A / E firms focusing on completeness, overall adherence to SOW and schedule realism
- Conduct thorough technical review of construction documents developed by third-party A / E firms
- Attend meetings with DoD personnel and international project stakeholders
- Some international travel will be required to meet project stakeholders and / or assess existing conditions of existing structures
- Preparation of technical trip reports containing detailed narratives and illustrations of findings
- Participate in national / international design charrettes acting as owner's representative
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
Education / Experience : The candidate must possess a Bachelors degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.Must hold an active DoD SECRET clearance or higherExperience in all aspects of electrical engineering practice including planning, programming, document markup, and / or design review.Experience in all phases of design, with track record of completed, successful projects.Willingness to work in a design review team environment.Demonstrated use of state-of-the-art engineering tools, techniques, and approaches in executing engineering support.Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.Ability to work on multiple projects which includes prioritizing, tracking, attention to detail, follow-up and follow-through to project completion.Flexibility / adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment.Desired Qualifications :
Experience working internationally and / or in resource-constrained countries.Experience working with the U.S. government on areas concerning national security.Familiarity with State-level and regional WMD threats.Familiarity with nonproliferation obligations, approaches, and objectives.Life science, chemical, nuclear, and border security infrastructure requirements gathering and design review experience.A registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in state of employment, or ability to get reciprocity, is preferred.Candidates with a Secret, Top Secret, or Top Secret / SCI clearance are preferred.Solar power experience / education preferred.Client Engagement
Begin developing relationships one level up and two levels down. Identify and support opportunities to expand project scope beyond current deliverable and actively share information about clients' emerging support needs and trends with team members and management. Participate on proposals.
