This position will support Camp Silver Beach and two YMCAs on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Camp Silver Beach is a premier residential camp on the Chesapeake Bay that draws participants from across the region and beyond. The Northampton County and Eastern Shore YMCAs serve as vital community hubs in a geographically unique, rural coastal region, offering essential programs and outreach that reflect the character and needs of Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Director of Development serves as a key ambassador for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, building and strengthening donor relationships to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of our mission. This role is responsible for increasing philanthropic support through identifying and cultivating new donors, deepening engagement with existing donors, and stewarding lasting partnerships. The Director will manage annual fundraising campaigns, expand the pipeline for major gifts, and play an integral role in preparing for a multi-million-dollar capital campaign. A central priority of this role is growing a culture of giving around Camp Silver Beach, engaging alumni, parents, and friends of camp to sustain its legacy and expand its impact for generations to come.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development works collaboratively with Executive Directors, Board members, and staff across assigned Centers to advance a culture of philanthropy and deliver measurable fundraising results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Maintain a personal portfolio of annual and major gift prospects, as well as those donors and prospects that have the capacity to give at greater levels.
• Serve as the primary relationship manager for their portfolio of prospects, developing and implementing a written donor strategy and relationship record of all interactions.
• Communicate through face to face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings, and determined strategies; ensure that each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
• Develop solicitation strategies for donors / prospects in support of the organization's annual fund, planned giving, and growth campaigns; ensure strategies are compatible and maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns and appeals.
• Support the fundraising efforts of the Executive Directors at the Center level and Chief Development Officer in securing new and renewed gifts.
• Under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer, create and manage organizational budget; track and report on progress to goal to CDO, ED, and CFO including contracts, gifts, and pledges.
• Ensure proper donor recognition and oversee accurate donor lists.
• Project manage annual appeals at the Center level ensuring deadlines and fundraising goals are met.
