Inside Higher Ed is hiring : Adjunct Faculty, Lamont School of Music in Denver

The University of Denver's Lamont School of Music seeks to hire adjunct instructors for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. These may include, but are not limited to, studio instruction in multiple music styles, ensemble directing or coaching, and academic courses.

Position Summary

The Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver is a highly selective and nationally renowned music program with approximately 300 music students. An accredited institutional member of NASM, Lamont is distinguished by an exceptionally talented student body as well as a faculty recognized nationally and internationally who tour, record, perform, publish, present scholarly work, and compose at the highest professional levels.

Essential Functions

Provide instruction in academic classes, ensembles, and / or applied music

For faculty offering studio instruction, assist in auditioning and recruiting students

Grading student work which encompasses, as applicable, assignments & exams, juries, and comprehensive assessments related to degree completion

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

For faculty offering studio instruction : ability to recruit students

Teach and work effectively with diverse populations

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff

Required Qualification

Master's degree in Music or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

Prior teaching experience in higher education

Regional, national, or international reputation in area(s) of expertise

Work Schedule

While the University's administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas.
