Key responsibilities
Set up and operate both manual and CNC milling and lathe machines to produce parts from various materials like metal, plastic, or wood.
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications to understand project requirements and tolerances.
Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments. Secure workpieces and align them precisely before starting the machine.
Monitor the machine's performance, including speeds and feeds, and use precision measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to check parts for accuracy and quality.
Make real-time adjustments during operation to correct issues, and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the machines.
Document all information related to setups, operations, and quality checks.
Adhere to all safety regulations and work to meet production schedules and quality standards.
