Position Purpose : Supporting our pathologists in diagnosing diseases and conditions. You will be responsible for various laboratory and clinical tasks, including specimen handling, processing, and gross description.
What you will do :
- Conduct gross examinations and complex dissections of tissue samples, documenting relevant characteristics through dictation using Dragon / EPIC.
- Assist pathologists in preparing tissue slides for microscopic examination.
- Maintain accurate records of specimen information, test results, and patient data.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and laboratory staff to ensure efficient specimen processing.
- Contribute to quality control and quality assurance activities in the laboratory.
- Stay updated with advancements in the field of pathology through ongoing education.
Education & Qualifications
Experience in the field with appropriate educational background (Master's degree in Pathology or a related field preferred).Certification as a Pathology Assistant (PA) or eligibility for certification preferred.Strong knowledge of anatomy, histology, and pathology principles.Proficiency in anatomic laboratory techniques, including frozen section and permanent specimen preparation.Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Commitment to laboratory safety protocols and ethical standards.Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion.
