Patient Care Technician- BH Intervention Cardio Clinic

General Summary\n\nResponsible for assisting the Licensed Healthcare Provider (Physician, APRN, PA) and nurses with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Supports remote clinic sites with data entry and chart completion in the EHR. Collaborates with other staff to achieve quality patient care and customer service goals. Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse.\n\nPrincipal Job Functions\n

• Performs patient care and assists provider(s) with examinations and procedures to serve the medical needs of patients, as assigned.\n
• Facilitates flow of patients in accordance with appointment time to avoid delays for the provider and undue waiting for patients.\n
• Greets and rooms patients; taking vital signs, updating patient history and medications, preparing patient for examination / procedures, as assigned.\n
• Rooms patients via EHR status indicator for outstate clinics and enters clinical documentation and results received from clinic, as assigned.\n
• Assists patients in pursuing preauthorization for PCSK9 inhibitor and other medications based on protocol, as assigned.\n
• Documents patient interactions, results, patient questions / concerns and medication changes, in a timely manner.\n
• Responds to calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical offices by use of telephone and computer in a timely manner, as assigned.\n
• Refers all physician telephone orders to a licensed professional.\n
• Coordinates with assigned RN to provide care that is beyond practice scope; including triage of patient follow up, patient teaching, and abnormal test result communication.\n
• Organizes medications sample storage and checks for outdates; pulls sample medications refills for provider per protocol.\n
• Keeps rooms stocked, clean and ready for use; assists with ordering supplies as needed.\n
• Complies with HIPAA and maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, staff, and providers.\n
• Provides care in a non-judgmental, compassionate, non-discriminatory manner remaining sensitive to the patient's diversity, autonomy, dignity, and rights.\n
• Responds appropriately to urgent / emergent situations and maintains compliance with OSHA and safety plan.\n\nEducation And Experience\n\nHigh School diploma or equivalency required. Active Nebraska Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential required. Six (6) months CNA experience preferred. Nebraska Medication Aide Registry preferred. If not currently on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry, completion within six (6) months of hire is required.\n\nOther Credentials / Certifications\n\nBasic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\n(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)\n\nCharacterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to assist 100+ pound patients to exam tables and push wheelchair bound patients. Exposure to blood, waste, body fluids, and communicable diseases.
