Title :

  • Data Analyst Location : Remote, 1st week onsite in Richmond VA Candidate has to live within the commuting distance to Richmond VA.  Job Description : We are seeking a Data Reporting Analyst / Developer , an Information Technology Systems specialist responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, and maintaining data reporting solutions across various business units.
  • This role leverages data analytics platforms, reporting tools, and visualization techniques to optimize reporting processes, uncover business insights, and drive efficiencies.
  • The ideal candidate will work closely with business leaders, engineers, analysts, and subject matter experts to understand data reporting needs, enhance legacy reporting systems, and implement improved deployment methodologies.
  • By bridging the gap between business processes and business intelligence , this role plays a key part in mining, summarizing, and analyzing data from multiple sources to drive informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineers to understand data and reporting challenges and develop effective reporting solutions .
  • Gather and translate business requirements into data specifications , defining necessary processes and changes.
  • Design and develop reports, dashboards, scorecards, and tabular data to meet business needs.
  • Develop and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) , Visual Studio , and Report Builder .
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries to support reporting needs.
  • Analyze report requests to ensure alignment with business objectives , eliminating redundant or unnecessary data points.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize reporting structures and deployment methodologies .
  • Validate and reconcile data discrepancies across multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Debug and resolve reporting and query errors efficiently.
  • Document and catalog current reporting structures for improved organization and accessibility.
  • Conduct independent data mining exercises , applying various analytical techniques to extract insights.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data, reporting, and analytics issues raised through service requests.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements and critical metrics tracking .
  • Participate in projects, QA testing, and implementation efforts .
  • Support overall project execution by ensuring reporting solutions meet performance criteria.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • Strong expertise in business data analysis with the ability to structure and interpret complex data for actionable insights.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL development on Microsoft SQL Server , including writing, optimizing, and maintaining SQL queries.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS), Report Builder, and Visual Studio for data and reporting solutions.
  • Experience in data analytics and report writing for a mortgage or financial institution is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of business needs and ability to foster trust and confidence with stakeholders.
