Marine Electrician Technician - Career Opportunity - San Diego, CA

Job Description

  • The Marine Electrician will support field installation services on US Navy ships. Responsibilities include the installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic and copper cable assemblies to support various ship services such as power, communication, and alarm systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, tag, and band fiber optic and copper cables on various classes of Naval vessels.
  • Layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, waveguides, or fiber optic cable onboard Navy vessels.
  • Troubleshoot and test fiber and copper cables and circuits.
  • Perform shipboard or airframe electrician's tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Use trade tools such as multi-meters, pin crimpers, and soldering equipment to accomplish complex electrical installation tasks.
  • Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may substitute part of the experience).
  • Experience with electrical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with multi-pin copper connectors.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS-Office programs, including Word and Excel.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates are former Navy personnel with experience as Electronics Technician (ET), Information Systems Technician (IC), Aviation Maintenance (AT), or Electrician's Mate (EM).

  • Work will be performed at various locations including NBSD, NASNI (Coronado), CMSD, NASSCO, and BAE.
  • Job Type & Location

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of National City, California.
  • Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00 / hr.
